Alberta Sees 40% Increase In International Student Enrollment
Alberta popularly known as Canadas Garden province has been an attractive option for many international students in the global education market.

In the last five years, international students enrollment in the post-secondary institutions has increased by 40%.  In 2011-12, the province had 13145 international students, the numbers increased drastically to 18203 in 2015-16, making up the 6.8% of the post-secondary students in the province.

According to the Government data, tuition, accommodation and discretionary spending contributes more than $7.7 billion to the Canadian economy.

Among other Grassland Provinces, Manitoba has shown almost 100% increase in the last five years. International students rose from 4,700 to 9,020, between 2011-12 and 2015-16. Saskatchewan province has seen 24%  rise during the same duration. Several parts of Eastern Canada witnessed a decline in international student enrolments.

The Alberta provincial government has infused $16 million to cover up the losses incurred by the institutions with the two-year tuition freeze.

Some educators opine that attracting international students doesnt mean generating vast sums of money. But, it means building a worldwide reputation and diversifying campuses.
