FOREIGN STUDENTS JOIN U.S. COLLEGES AT A RECORD-BREAKING RATE

With the number of students from foreign land enrolling in U.S. universities and colleges, the University of Florida also saw a surge of its own. A total of 8,86,052 students were reportedly admitted throughout these colleges in the country.

This year’s Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange stated that students from all over the world comprised about 4% of all the students in the U.S., which is home to more foreign students than any other country. This number has increased by 72% since 2000.

According to the University of Florida, this semester has seen more than 6,100 international candidates from more than 139 different countries. This is in stark contrast to the number of students who got admitted in the UF in 2013, which is 4,642.

UF has a special Navigators program which has aided students from all across the globe, settle in this university. Samantha Amos, treasurer of this program said there were some 250 international students who had joined the club that semester and since the time that she took charge of the post, the count has been rising.
