Purdue University Tie - Up with India Strengthened By President Mitch Daniels Visit

Mitch Daniels, President of Purdue University will be on a five day visit to Mumbai on November 4. He would be addressing a gathering at the Purdue India Alumni Dinner in an attempt to consolidate ties between the two countries.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings for the academic year 2014-15 has placed Purdue in the 102nd position as opposed to the former 62nd rank. The latest US News and World Report rankings of undergraduate programs, ranks Purdue at 20th position.

A press release from the university stated that Daniels would be accompanied by the top officials of the University, namely Suresh Garimella and Mary Dennis. The release mentioned the likelihood of a connection between the university and corporate partners in an effort to globally impact research and education.

A total of 1,500 Indian students are currently enrolled in the university, in addition to the thousands of alumni residing in India.

Purdue has the 2nd largest international student population and overall 3rd according to the Institute of International Education 2013-14. Indian students comprise the 2nd highest among overseas candidates at Purdue.

Purdue has various partnership programs with Indian universities like IIT Madras, Punjab Agricultural University and many more of repute.
