A report from the Institute of International Education stated that a total of 8,86,052 students from overseas attended college in the academic year 2013-14. This fall session, the University of Illinois documented one in 10 freshmen as belonging to China. The University ranks third among the country’s educational institutions, after New York University and University of Southern California.
The state of Illinois is ranked number five because of 42,527 students, out of which 355 are of Chinese origin. The other renowned institutes in the state are Northwestern University, University of Chicago, Illinois Institute of Technology and University of Illinois at Chicago.
The total number of candidates enrolling and the growing opportunities for offshore students to join schools in Illinois is something to be proud of. They get an overall perspective into the global culture and ideas that will broaden their horizons. The students attending school here mostly come from India and China. The other countries that send their students abroad include Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iran.
