Most Indians are Flocking to UK for Studies

British Council and the director of West India, Sharon Memis stated that around 24,000 Indian students are studying in the UK as the country holds a significant place among other educational destinations for various graduate and post graduate programs.

According to the National Student Survey, almost half a million students in the UK and 86 percent of postgraduate students are happy with their courses.

Sources stated that short term degrees, teaching oriented programs and other easily accessible programs for parents are the possible reasons that made UK as a coveted place to study. And, the UK business and technical programs are the most popular programs among Indians. Also, an increase in interests is noticed in various streams like Fashion Management, Product Design, Fashion, Film and Media production, Communication and design.

Memis said that various schemes have been launched that lets skilled post graduate students extend their stay in the country. Further she added that a new visa route has been initiated for entrepreneurs that permits graduates with creative ideas to reside in the country. Moreover, UK universities also offer wide range of programs and help students to enrich their employment prospects. Some UK universities have dedicated career and employability center to assist students build CV, interview preparation and group discussion, said sources.  

Memis added that UK is offering a good number of scholarships for Indian students to support them financially. Apparently, the UK government's global scholarship program will obtain quadruple funding from the government for Indians, making India as the biggest beneficiary. More than 750 scholarships were offered to Indians in the last two years.
