UPEI Foreign Student Number Reaches a Landmark
The University of Prince Edward Island has restarted a drive on recruitment from overseas, allowing the school to admit a milestone number of overseas students in 2014. In 2012, the 11% of international students who were admitted there, rose to 16% in 2014. This has placed the P.E.I. province among the top three in Canada for playing host to students from abroad.

According to Barbara Campbell, director of the international relations office, the small size of Charlottetown and the small size of the school were playing important roles when it came to recruitment. She went on to say that the students recognized the worth of a learning ambience and the fact that they were living there.

Studying at the University of P.E.I. gave students a cutting edge over others in future. It was also the perfect place to learn about a different culture. With a goal to bring in students from Turkey, India, Eastern Europe and Brazil, UPEI is now aiming for an aim of 20% in the next couple of years.
